It is a real shame how much time we spend worrying about how others see us. When I was young my Grandfather often said “Oh, for the power to see ourselves as other see us”, which might or might not be a good thing! However, as I grew older I realized that a greater desire should be to see ourselves “as God sees us”, after all since he made us he sees us from the inside! He knows who we really are and scripture is very clear about humility. In James 4: 6″…God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Scripture also tells us that pride comes before a fall and destruction, but if asked, most people would not really consider themselves prideful and may even have a negative concept of humility. However, since both pride and humility are related to how we see ourselves, I think another quote give us some excellent guidance on how to solve the above dilemma. “Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking about yourself less”!
