“There, but for the grace of God, go l.” Unknown

Though I have not been able to determine the origins of this saying, it is one I heard often during my growing up years from my Papa and Mother.

Whenever someone would criticize someone’s behavior, actions, or attitudes, I would be reminded that if I was not the recipient of God’s love and grace, I too was more than capable of the same!

As a child and even as a teenager, this concept often fell on deaf ears, as I would not or could not conceive that I could do something so bad or evil.

However, over the years, my walk with the Lord has made me realize the capability of all human beings for evil and the need for us to be thankful that God has protected and guided us from such thoughts, words, and deeds. It is also a stark reminder of the need to pray for the perpetrator(s)!
