“The Lord does not give me rules, He makes His standards very clear, and if my relationship with Him is that of love, I will do what He says without any hesitation.” Oswald Chambers

In our relationship with God, rules are replaced by clear standards. As Oswald Chambers said, “The Lord does not give me rules, He makes His standards very clear, and if my relationship with Him is that of love, I will do what He says without any hesitation.”

This emphasizes our bond with God—a connection of love, not legalism. Just as a loving child follows a caring parent’s guidance willingly, our love for God moves us to embrace His standards eagerly and without reservation.

In Matthew 22:37-38, Jesus affirms the centrality of love in our relationship with God: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart… This is the great and first commandment.”

May we, like Oswald Chambers, understand that obedience born out of love is the most sincere response to God’s clear standards. Let’s embrace His guidance wholeheartedly, walking in the path of love and righteousness, and glorifying Him in all we do.
