The Bible is full of stories where Jesus befriended people who the world despised. He did not avoid or ignore people who were different or had ideas and opinions with which he did not agree. The Samaritan woman at the well who had been married five times, the tax collector, the rich man and the begger were all befriended by Jesus. This demonstration of His love is an excellent example for all of us to follow. His thoughts were more on their need for God’s love than on himself! We too should remember that as benefactors of God’s love and mercy we need to pass it on to all we meet. Proverbs 17:17 reminds us that “A friend love at all times…”
