“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:26
In our world, today heart transplants have become almost commonplace, but the new heart Ezekiel refers to is not physical but spiritual. Because we are born with a very selfish heart, even as a baby we want everything our way. We want to be fed whenever we cry, we want to have a dry diaper no matter the circumstances and we want all the attention to be on us! Unfortunately, this selfishness doesn’t go away by itself and in many cases, it gets worse as we grow into teenage and adulthood. This selfishness is known as SIN and the only way we can change a sinful heart into a loving, caring and unselfish heart is by having a spiritual heart transplant! The only doctor who can perform this spiritual surgery is the Holy Spirit who Jesus sent to earth to help, guide and protect us when he returned to heaven after his resurrection.
The number to call when you recognize you need and want a new heart is not 911 but
I John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
