” The only man who never makes a mistake is the man who never does anything.” Theodore Roosevelt

Throughout the Bible individuals are given a directive to do something. The lepers were told to “go” and present themselves to the priests (Luke 17: 11-19), Lazarus was told to “come forth” (John 11:38-44), the adulterous woman was told to “go and sin no more” (John 8:11), sinners are told to “confess” and to “pray for each other” (James 5:15), believers were told to “fight the good fight” (1Timothy 6:12) and Christ’s disciples were told to “do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19). Life in Christ is not one of inactivity, it requires us to go and do and encourages us to seek God’s guidance in all of our activities. A few years ago many people wore bracelets with the letters WWJD (What Would Jesus Do) to reminded them to remember Christ’s words, as we seek to be “not only hearers but doers of the word”( James 1:22). However, as our quote says if we are doers (seeking, knocking and knocking), we will make mistakes but when we do, we can also rest in the promise found in 1 John 1:9, that He is “faithful and just to forgive our sins.”
