“Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them to become what they are capable of being.” Johann Wolfgang Van Goethe
Respect was truly a kingdom value demonstrated by Christ during His earthly life. As his disciples he didn’t seek out the rich, the prominent or the best looking: he chose fishermen and everyday laborers and by His love and mercy he made them “fishers of men”! There are many synonyms for the word respect, like appreciation, consideration, honor, recognition, regard and tribute to name a few and all were obvious in the life of Christ. A song that often comes to my mind when I consider the words above, is an old one that says, “more like the master I would ever be, more meekness, more humility…” I Peter 2: 17 “Honor all people. Love the brotherhood, fear God. Honor the king.”
